The logo is inspired by the coat of arms and the core values of the municipal organization.
The logo, shaped like the letter ‘M’, reflects this heritage and is inspired by the coat of arms. The three dark blocks in the coat of arms represent blocks of peat. In the 16th century, Meppel grew due to peat extraction and trading, becoming a vital transit port.
The partially open section on the right symbolizes collaboration with various stakeholders. The Municipality of Meppel works together with residents, entrepreneurs, and institutions by fostering opportunities, providing spaces for entrepreneurship and stimulating collaboration.
In addition to that, the partially open section represents a municipal organization that is agile while staying true to its goals – a testament to its reliability and transparency in serving society. The municipality also wants to radiate these characteristics to the outside world by making all information accessible and sustainable to the stakeholders.
The main colour, Dark Orange is derived from the municipal coat of arms, symbolizing pride, and reliability and radiating courage towards the future. The warm, vibrant, and eye-catching colour reflects enthusiasm and vitality. The supporting colour, a distinctive blue-green shade, combines blue and green. Blue signifies water, rail and road, while green symbolizes parks and the three nature reserves. Together, they form “Blue-Green.”
